Are you in need of a weekend get-away? Do you need God to breathe fresh, reviving, refining breathe into you? Would you like to leave the worries and stress of your busy life behind for a bit and spend time in God’s beautiful nature and in worshipping Him? How about listening to encouraging messages, and enjoying fun activities and girlfriend fellowship?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then this weekend retreat is for you!

CABC’s Women’s Ministry has planned a short respite to meet the spiritual needs of today’s busy women. Worship leader for the weekend will be Marcy Priest from Edmond, Ok. Marcy led worship on the Saturday of last February’s Jennifer Rothschild Conference, Fresh Grounded Faith, hosted by CABC and 30 other churches from our area. Marcy is a gifted musician and worship leader who can lead her audience into the very presence of the Lord Jesus.

Also on the schedule are messages to inspire you and breakout sessions that will encourage and teach you. Local women will share their stories of how God has renewed their faith and refined their character. You will have the opportunity to challenge yourself in the spiritual disciplines of scripture memory and prayer. And…if you’re up to it, you will be able to embrace the challenges of the camp’s Zip Line and Ropes Course! We’ve also included time for just pure-dee fun! Volleyball, board games, karaoke, as well as an opportunity to do something meaningful for our local Good Samaritan Ministry and to create a memento that you can take home or give as a gift are all on tap.

It will be a fun-filled time of worship and fellowship. Who knows, you might get to know someone new!! Please, please, please make plans to attend if at all possible. It is open to the community, so bring your friends from other churches – or better yet – an unchurched friend who needs some spiritual encouragement. CABC Women’s Ministry is covering the cost of the worship leader, some fun activities for Friday evening, the cost of conference facilities, limited refreshments, and misc. “stuff” in order to keep the cost per participant as low as possible. BTW – we are really encouraging everyone to spend the night and not miss any of the late night fun and fellowship. However, if that won’t work for you, still make plans to attend as much of the weekend as possible. There is not a reduced cost for those who don’t spend the night or who have to leave early because we have not padded the per person price since the ministry is picking up all other expenses. Please don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to experience the Lord in a refreshing way!

Registration is open and motel rooms are on a first come, first serve basis. T-shirts will be available at check-in for those who register and pay by March 10. Registration after that date will mean your shirt will be delivered after the retreat.

Registration forms are available at the CABC’s Women’s Ministry table on Sundays or in the office during the week. Forms are also available online. Completed forms and payment should be returned to the church or mailed to CABC Women’s Ministry, PO Box 1622, Brownwood, TX 76801.

Questions? Call Debbie Eoff @ 325-647-5910 or Gloria Humphreys @ 325-647-4224

The English language really doesn’t have a word that adequately expresses the experiences of our Fresh Grounded Faith weekend. So, WOW!, is all I can say in one word.

When the Women’s Ministry Team first began bouncing the idea of a FGF conference around seven months ago, we were fearful – fearful that we were not capable of meeting the physical and logistical needs of a national conference, fearful that we could not muster enough churches to co-host the event, fearful that we would not sell the number of tickets required, just plain fearful!

We sat around a table and read in the Word where God told Moses to send men to spy out the Promised Land. The spies came back to Moses and told him how the land “flowed with milk and honey” but there were fortified cities and many giants. Nine of the eleven said the Israelites could not defeat the giants and take the cities. However, two of the eleven, Caleb and Joshua, said they could take the Promised Land because God had promised it to them and would be with them. And eventually, Joshua led them to victory over their foes. Our team decided to not be like the nine who would not step out in faith but were crippled by fear. We wanted to trust God and walk in faith.

So our team went to work in conjunction with FGF’s national conference director with the vision of bringing women together from all across West-Central Texas to serve and worship Jesus. …And God showed up!

Thirty churches from across denominational lines came together to co-host our FGF conference! Churches from Stephenville, to Eastland, to Coleman, to Ballinger, to Brady, to San Saba, to Goldthwaite, and just about every community in between worked together to bring this conference together. That’s a WOW!

Our conference sold out of our 850 tickets in the first 30 days. That’s a WOW!

FGF opened a second conference to accommodate the number of women who wanted to attend. That’s a WOW!

Over 190 women volunteered on various teams from facilities, to hospitality, to product tables, to encouragers. That’s a WOW!

Approximately 1,450 women from Louisiana to El Paso, and from Amarillo to Houston, attended the conferences. That’s a WOW!

A foundation, not even based in our area but which has a heart for the military, offered scholarships, and over 30 active duty military women and spouses of active duty men were able to attend. They came from Ft. Hood, Dyess AFB, and our own Camp Bowie. That’s a WOW!

Local individuals and businesses gave 65 scholarships. That ensured that many women who were not finacially able to attend could. Other scholarships went to women from our local TYC unit, a half-way house for recently incarcerated women, Christian Women Job Corps, and other non-profit entities. That’s a WOW!

Here’s the best news…Nine women asked Jesus to be their Savior during the conferences and over 100 made new commitments in their walk with the Lord. (Those are the number we know of via decision cards turned in. Only God knows the rest of the decisions.) That’s a big WOW!

Henry Blackaby says to look for where God is working or where He is wanting to work and move there. Be part of what God is doing. That’s what our 30 churches did, and it was amazing. We were encouraged and uplifted by the messages of Jennifer Rothschild and Stormie OMartian and by the worship led by Michael O’Brien and Marcy Priest.

But more than anything else, we were met by the Lord – and He moved in a mighty way. Now that’s a big WOW!

CABC’s Women’s Ministry Team sends a big “Thank you!” to the many women and churches who helped make the weekend possible. Isn’t it a blessing to be God’s hands and feet to minister in our communities? I think we would all say, “WOW!”

More pictures of the weekend can be found at our FaceBook page.
